The Rising Sun Institute (RSI) started with only 2 special children in 1984 in the dinning room of Dr. and Mrs. Abdul Tawwab Khan is now the largest Institute in Pakistan providing education, speech therapy, physio, hydro & sensory integration therapy, vocational training, physiotherapy and speech therapy leading to rehabilitation in community of more than 400 children with intellectual (cognitive) impairment cerebral palsy and autism, through its two campuses.
Defence Campus is serving 229 enrolled children and 51 through its home-based rehabilitation services. Whereas its Mughalpura campus providing loving care and rehabilitation services to 110 enrolled children and 25 through it’s recently started home-based services. The DHA Campus building is now almost complete the near completion building of the Institute which is providing state of the art Educational Training and Rehabilitation facilities to the children who have Intellectual Impairment, Cerebral Palsy and Autism.
This includes basic formal education with individualized education program, i.e. one teacher to one student and in small groups of 8-10 students in one class. One M.A. Special Education or M. Sc Psychology teacher & often with an additional Assistant Teacher imparts training and education to the children in one class room. Computer and religious education, games and sport and cultural activities are also the integral part of the total program.
